Testimonials

"Thanks Mentor Series for bringing the fun back to travel. We’ve been on a couple of treks and they both went beyond our expectations. The mentors were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and personable with each one bringing their unique talents and perspectives to help boost photographic skills for the beginner to the more experienced photographer. And there’s an immediate camaraderie when traveling with a group who share a common interest in photography. We’re still in touch with several of the friends we made on our trips. Erica and Michelle do a fantastic job taking care of every detail and making sure that we were in the best spots at the best time for the best possible picture. Thanks again!!"

—Becky Wallace, Egypt 2009, Costa Rica 2010

"It was nice to have two mentors with different styles and approaches to photography. I learned that there is not just ‘one' right way to capture a subject or event. How you do it depends on what or who it is for and what will be done with it. Prepare to be on the go from sun up till way after dark. These people are not there for relaxing. I knew that before going on the trip so I was ready. We had fun and learned a lot. The mentors challenged us to try new approaches, new equipment and new ways of seeing. They helped us succeed with the efforts. The nightly critiques were very valuable and nicely done. The transporting buses were quite comfortable and roomy. The itinerary was full and filled with a variety of locations and shooting opportunities. Our mentors and our group members were helpful and entertaining. Well planned and executed."

—Harold Fowler, Southern California 2010

"I have been on two international and one domestic trek since 2007. These treks are an incredible experience, and I have made many new friends. The mentors have been fantastic, and I have learned a lot. The images from the treks have been among my best. I plan on going on many more treks in the future and would recommend them to anyone who has a desire for photography."

—Fred Kurtz, Italy, 2008, New Orleans, 2010

"I have been on two treks with the Mentor Series and have always been impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the knowledge of the mentors. I would not hesitate to recommend the Mentor Series to any aspiring photographer."

—Keith Andrews, Tucson 2009, Costa Rica 2010

"Whether you are a professional photographer or an amateur, participation in a Mentor Series Photo Trek will be a memorable event, one that will allow you to meet and work with truly established professional photographers. I attended so far four Photo Treks and every time I returned home knowing that I learned a lot; another additional benefit is the interaction with fellow trekkers as the shared experience greatly enhance the overall trek.

"One can travel by himself to the location of the trek but you will be hard press to have the same photography experience since the treks are great in providing unique settings and models/props. If you are serious about photography, attending a Mentor Series Trek is a must."

—Giancarlo Bisone, New Orleans 2010
