SD-9 High Performance Battery Pack
Shortens recycling time and increases flash capacity.
The SD-9 is an external power source. It can hold up to two sets of four R6/AA-size batteries, ensuring a stable power supply for the SB-900, greatly increasing the number of flashes, and reducing recycling time.

Versatile & Easy To Use
By itself, on or off camera, it is powerful and easy to use to handle most situations with ease. The iTTl feature works well in quickly changing atmosphers/lighted subjects (Such as Wedding Reseptions and Events). Pair it with one or more 900's with the Remote or Master setting, and let the creativity begin. Would be 5 Stars, but the high temp shut down feature is a catch 22 (Can be avoided by use of the SD-9 Battery Pack).

I have only used this pack a few times but i am suprised how much easier it makes my experience. the flash works when its needed and the extra weight is fine. it may be a bit pricey for a piece of plastic but what isn't?

Answer:
Each of two ready-lights (A and B) lights up for each circuit.• When the SB-900’s power is on, the SD-9 starts to charge the power in sync with the SB-900, and the ready-light lights up in red. The ready-light goes off when the power charge is completed.
• The ready-light blinks in red when there is danger of the SD-9 overheating because of its repeating flash operation (power charge does not start). It stops blinking when the SD-9 is cooled down to normal temperature (power charge is available).
Can you use the Sd9 with the SK-6 flash bracket? I noticed the front power plug on the front of the SK6 but didn't know if it would be able to utilize the Sd-9. I just wondered before I bought it.
